Watercolor nails

Hello lovely people!
Yesterday I tried a new to me technique after seeing it used by Chalkboard Nails. Water color nails!
The effect is made by using acetone to thin out the spots of polish on your nails, creating the watercolor effect.
For a good tutorial visit www.imabeautygeek.com

Mine turned out a bit sportier than I had intended, but I quite like the result.

And a here is a closeup.

The colors I used were:
White: Sally Hansen White Out
Pink: Sally Hansen Coral Reef
Purple: BC Co. Shade 6
Green: Sinful Colors San Fransisco
Blue: E.L.F (What I believe is) Metallic Blue.

Over all I quite like this look.... I am curious what effects could be acheived with it.
Have you used his technique? What was your result like? I'd love to hear your opinions.

Where have I been??

Greetings my dears!!
It has been a long time! Allow me to explain...

Just after creating my new blog etc I found myself ill on and off, leaving little time to post. When I finally felt well enough I ran into more issues.
After logging in I found that google wasn't displaying any blogs under my user name... You can imagine my frustration.
After trying and trying to work out why I basically gave up and decided to switch to Wordpress.
In the mean time I stuck to posting on instagram. You can find me at @ladybirdlacquer.

I spent more time than I care to mention this morning trying to get a blog there to look the way I wanted.

After giving up for the time being I logged into google... This is where it gets REALLY frustrating...
Somehow blogger/google had found my blog again!
Don't ask me how or why!

But now... I AM BACK! And I promise to be more active, between crazy kids and health drama :)

I don't have a lot to post right now, as I said, I had basically given up hope.
So I wil leave you with my current mani.

This one surprised me. I don't really like pink very much, but I felt like something different.
I started with a gradient using BYS Scented Pink and China Glaze Limbo Bimbo. Then I topped it with 1 thin coat of L.A Girl Uninhibited.

It reminds me of some kind of flower, but I cannot think of what... But I love it!!!

While I try and get back into the swing of blogging I will continue to post on instagram.

Until next time my dears, be well,
Eboni :)

Celestial Cosmetics: Galaxy Collection swatches and review.

Hello there lovely people! It has been a while!
After a long time away from blogging etc, I am back!

And what a way to return! With swatches of 5 of the colors from BRAND NEW INDIE line Celestial Cosmetics!

Celestial Cosmetics will launch their Galaxy Collection on Thursday 25th April at 12:00 Adelaide time. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on these!

Onto the photos!

First up is Mercury Rising.
This is a frosty silver with tiny blue glitters scattered throughout.
Show is 3 coats with topcoat.
As you can see, it is quite sheer and my nail staining is visible. But for those without any yellowing, you could easily leave it at 3 coats.
This applied beautifully, no fiddling required.

Next up is Martins Have Landed which is one of two chromes in the collection.
The colour  is stunning. A deep, rosy red that leans towards pink.

Again, this is 3 coats. However it is shown without top coat! Still so shiny!
The first coat was a touch streaky, but the second coat sorted that out.

The second chrome in the collection is Neptu-ranian, a beautiful deep green.
Again, shown is 3 coats without top coat. The first coat was also a little streaky but, again, the second sorted that out.

Next we have Cosmic Ray. This beauty is a deep blue jelly packed with silver bars and flakes.
At 3 coats I had a little VNL, but not much. On the little and ring finger I layered it over a dark blue for comparison. As you can see, there isn't much difference.

Last but most certainly not least is Venus. This is by far my favourite of the collection so far!
A pale yellow creme filled with purple and orange glitters.
This is 3 incredibly easy coats with top coat. I am beyond in love with this!

So there we have it. 5 gorgeous shades. Which are your favourites?

As I said, the SHOP opens on Thursday April 25th at 12:00 Adelaide time.
You can find the facebook page HERE.
Head on over and like for updates and more pictures.

Until next time
